Exclusive Carp Fishing at Clay Lakes in Northern France a simple journey from Calais we offer two original Cassini forest lakes now home to big fighting carp, they date back centuries ago designed by the Monks hidden away in a idyllic woodland this picturesque venue is home to a sanctuary of wildlife the perfect setting for a carp fishing holiday.
Another fabulous season at Clay Lakes in 2023 seen many customers smashing personal bests while enjoying the venue with all that it has to offer. We are already gearing up to 2024 with plans in place over the winter for improvements to swims and walkways plus general maintenance to the site and facilities.
Both lakes showing great weight progression during the 2023 season in the middle ranges especially 35lb to 45lb plus our 50lb+ fish are all in great condition which is positive to witness. Current Lake Records 56lb common in Lake One and a 61lb common in Lake Two.
In the winter of 2019 we stocked both lakes for the future generations and to maintain a balance throughout. A beautiful 50lb 9oz Mirror was added to lake 1 plus 96 Mirrors, Commons and Leather ranging from 17lb to 30lb were shared between both lakes.
Each lake booking includes a Cabin with fitted Kitchen and Bathroom giving our guests everything they need to enjoy their holiday whilst at Clay Lakes. We have built new decking areas on cabins One & Two plus developed the swims adding steps down to the water making it easier for returning fish.
Travelling to us is a simple journey from Calais at 3 hours 40 minutes or alternatively travel through Belgium at just over 4 hours and pay no tolls.
Lake 1 is 2.3 acres and for up to 3 anglers, 4 spacious swims to choose between. Lake record is a 56lb common from swim 2. Average depths are 4.5 to 6.5 foot although the clay lakebed is uniformed you can find random drop offs and caves inside the margins were fish will be caught. The old riverbed runs through the middle of the lake from the dam wall to the sleuth and is about 1.5 to 2m wide. No weed, hidden snags, crayfish or poisson chat to catch you out. Both of the lakes are fully secure on Private Land and monitored by us closely. We are available either on site or by telephone directly.
Lake 2 is 5.4 acres and for up to 4 anglers, 6 spacious swims including two doubles perfect for a social. Lake record is a 61lb Common from swim 3. Average depths are 4.5 to 6 foot, uniformed clay lakebed and random drop offs, the overflow of water from lake 1 runs directly into lake 2. The old riverbed standing at swim 1 looking to the far side this fades from left to right to the overflow exit and is 1.5 to 2m wide, this is also a good area to catch fish from especially towards the back of the lake. No snags, weed, crayfish or poisson chat to catch you out.
